Imagine you open your mail and your electric bill is higher than it was last month because temps have been in the 90s for weeks. 🌡️ Your kids are out of school, so you’re paying for extra childcare 💲 and to provide the breakfast 💲 and lunch 💲 they get at school during the year.
This summer, that’s the reality for families facing higher prices on everyday essentials during the hottest month of the year. 💲💲💲
Your gift to SFC helps families stretch their budget to keep power on AND put nutritious food on the table. SFC’s Double Up Texas program doubles SNAP benefits to spend on fresh fruits and veggies, offering extra support to keep quality, nutritious food on the table. 🍏 https://secure.qgiv.com/for/sustainablefoodcenter
Plus, when more families can access and afford fresh, local food, that boosts sales for the small-scale farmers who grow it. 🧑🌾

Welcome Nava Farms to the SFC Farmers' Market Downtown! Nava is an organic fruit and vegetable farm with over 3,000 fruit trees located just outside of Austin.
earlier this spring, we saw classic edibles like salad greens, tomatoes, and apples as well as crops planted as pest control like mustard greens to control harmful nematodes (worms that can be good or bad) in soil. Nava Farms’ sustainability practices include:
💩Goats, geese, ducks, and chickens whose manure is used for fertilizer
🌱Low to no soil till (reduces erosion)
💧Ponds on the farm collect rainwater used in crop irrigation
🐝Bees on site pollinate crops while producing honey
See the fruits of their labor for yourself at SFC Farmers’ Market Downtown Saturdays 9 AM -1 PM and at the Nava Farms Farmstand Saturdays and Sundays 9 AM - 4 PM.
