With a name like Jewboy, it’s no surprise we’re the spiritual types around here. We celebrate all faiths, but there’s one that comes up every Fall that seems to burn in people’s blood just a little hotter.

I’m talking about Football of course, more specifically Texas Longhorn Football. Sorry MGDTexas and Mark Shilling but it’s that time again. You can Gig away all you want, around here, we’re gonna Hook’m all the way to the Natty.

For the past two years, we’ve featured this burger as our burger of the month and cousin, we’re not gonna stop. The karma is real.

Presenting the Hook’M. A perfectly seared Jewboy Patty covered in Longhorn Cheddar Cheese, topped with a tangy burnt orange BBQ sauce, bread and butter pickles and of course, CHICKEN FRIED BACON (yes, I had to all caps that).

No, you don’t have a be a Longhorn fan to enjoy this tasty creation, but if you are, when they talk about being so close to the big one you can taste it, this is what they mean. Pretty much.

Coach Sark and Kyle Flood we’ve got you fed all the way (especially onion rings)

Many of you might remember we operated the Jewboy Sub shop. It’s been a year since we closed her down but feels like not a day goes by when someone asks me when we’re gonna reopen it. Well, today is not that day.

However…

We do have an Italian comfort food sister concept in Hyde Park called Umarell. It’s the old Wok n Express building at the corner of 45th and Guadalupe. While we aren’t making all the same sandwiches from the Sub Shop, we’re definitely making a monster of a Chicken Parm. This time, we’re making the roll in house, and we’ve doubled up the chicken. We don’t have to get into the similarities between Jews and Italians, but when you see the food, I think you’ll get the idea. Come take a look and bring your appetite. Open Tuesday through Sunday at 11:00, we’d love to scratch that sandwich itch Austin has.

I like to feed people and I’m not shy about saying that. Food brings people together, it brings happiness and in my naïve and humble opinion, I’d like to think it might be our greatest chance at bringing harmony to the world.

Sadly, the reality is that not everyone can have such an idealistic approach to food. For way too many people, food is a challenge. Food insecurity is something I have a hard time believing we allow to exist. Especially when it comes to children.

So this month’s burger of the month is a collaboration, fund raiser and awareness raiser with Keep Austin Fed. It’s just one small way we can help those working to end this senseless, and very fixable issue. For each burger of the month sold, we’ll be donating a $1.

Now for the burger. For the Dog Days of summer, we present the Elote Burger, aka, the Win Win. Corn is a staple of diets all over the world, but particularly in the Southwest where I come from. I felt there was a connection between something that is so vital and so delicious.

The bottom bun starts out with a tangy spread consisting of sour cream, mayo, lime juice, chopped cilantro and elote spices including cumin and Chile powder. A perfectly seared Jewboy patty is placed on the bun with melted white cheddar cheese. The star of the show is the Elote inspired corn fritter with grilled corn, Cotija cheese, green onion, and an elote spice blend (Chile powder, paprika). The fritted is placed on top of the burger and the top bun is finished with more of our tangy elote spread fresh cilantro and diced red onions.

Wasn’t too hard to come up with the name for this one.

At the current time, we are not serving lettuce with any of our burgers. We have not received any complaints or seen any issues, but out of abundant caution, we’re going to hold off serving lettuce until we are 100% sure that there is no danger to our customers.
I’m not into anything described as “explosive” unless it’s laughter. --Mo

Everyone has their own way of celebrating. Here at Jewboy Burgers, we celebrate by doing what we love the most… we feed people. As we celebrate our country’s birthday, we bring back the Duke as our burger of the month, our version of the All-American cheeseburger.
Two 4 oz patties (that’s a half pound for those of you like me who struggle with maths) smashed and covered in American cheese topped with ketchup, mustard, and dill relish. Meanwhile, on the bottom bun is 1000 island making sure this cornucopia of condiments is in perfect balance and harmony. Available right now.
On a personal note, I would like to take the opportunity on this special birthday to give thanks that I am free to open a concept called Jewboy Burgers. I think we can agree this isn’t something you’ll see everywhere, so thank you. I hope I/we can make each and every one of you at least half as happy as you’ve made me as I navigate this crazy mid-life crisis. I know it will never be possible to get everyone to agree on everything, but from where I sit, I’m willing to put out there that food, and the opportunity to share it with people might just be one of those things we can all agree upon. Happy Birthday America! How about a World Cup win as a present?

Today we got to hang out with our people. No, I’m not talking about Jewish people or El Pasoans (although we met plenty of both). We were honored to participate in Austin Monthly’s burger bash. Some of the most amazing chefs and restaurants came together and we all made burgers. So many people can and endured the heat to show their love of our craft. It’s amazing to see so many burger lovers in one place. We sold out early and spent the rest of the time just talking burgers with folks enjoying the event. Thank you for having up. We’re proud to say we’ve been there since the beginning and always look forward to it. If you weren’t there, I highly recommend looking at the participants and trying them all. Some days make me think we’ve all got a chance here. Lots of love and tasty bites. Viva los Hamburgesas!

June has arrived and with it, the heat and humidity. It can wear you out. But we’ve got just the thing. We all know how wonderful spinach artichoke dip is, but have you ever had it as a fritter? On a burger??

This month is your lucky month. You get both and while you may be saying something like “Eww, spinach”, this is one of those times eating your veggies is gonna pay off immediately.

Presenting the Popeye. If you don’t know who he is, then ask your dad (of granddad.). A seared Jewboy Patty covered in melted provolone sitting on fried onion strings then topped with a spinach artichoke fritter. Finally topped with some house-made lemon mayo. One bite into this bad boy and your strength comes back and the explosion of flavor will hit harder than a jacked up sailor taking on Bluto.

Bring on summer. We’re ready.

Ah, National Burger Day. I’m not sure if it’s Hallmark that’s driving this train, but I appreciate this day of celebration as well as National Cheeseburger Day and National Hamburger Day. Yes, we love burgers so much, we have three days a year to celebrate them.
We’re in the process of building a new website, so we took some new photos. I thought it would be fun to compare where we are today with what the very first Jewboy Burger looked like. Fall of 2016 we fired the truck up for the first time for Parent’s Weekend at the Sammy house. If it wasn’t for , I’m not sure we would have clocked burger number one. But thanks to him, his amazing wife, my amazing wife and of course , my first official employee (note that’s his dad’s IG, I just couldn’t figure out his, so I expect him to let Cam know I recognized his effort on that fated day.) we made it through the day and here we are almost 10 years later.
Burgers are such an amazing way to bring happiness to someone. So huzzah to National Burger day and each and every one of you out there who love burgers!

As if “May the 4th Be With You” wasn’t a great enough day, here we are the very next day celebrating once again. You can make your arguments for the history behind Cinco de Mayo, but there’s no arguing it’s always a good time. In celebration of the good time at hand, we partnered up with the amazing folks at to pay homage to a burger often found on the Border, but specifically in the beautiful town of Monterrey.

Chef Mariha and the guy with the amazing hair cut who hangs out with her Julian brought us more than inspiration, they brought their house-made chipotle mayo and escabeche (if you don’t know what this is, try it and then ask yourself why it’s not on all burgers). We added our refried beans, guacamole and two pieces of grilled smoked ham with a slice of melty Costra cheese between them. And honestly, just because, we added some more melty Pepper Jack right on the patty. Finished with shredded lettuce and griddled onions.

Come try this burger and do yourself a favor, go to La Plancha and get the torta you never knew you needed asap. As General Ignacio Zaragoza, the hero of Cinco de Mayo would say, “¡Vamos a comer, mi gente!”
