Some careers are chosen. Others seem to find you.
In this episode of Cooking Club, Chef Nay Castillo shares how a love for cooking started long before it became a profession—from hosting backyard carne asadas as a kid to asking endless questions in the kitchen, always wanting to learn more.
Choosing a career in food isn’t always the easiest path. It takes long hours, dedication, and a genuine passion for the craft. For Chef Nay, that passion was there from the very beginning.
Join us as we hear the story behind the chef and the experiences that shaped their journey.

Some moments deserve to be remembered forever. ❤️📖
Our cookbook launch was more than a celebration—it was a chance to gather with the people who have supported Veracruz through every chapter. Seeing so many familiar faces, sharing stories, food, and this milestone together made the day incredibly special.
Thank you to everyone who came out, cheered us on, and continues to be part of our journey. This book wouldn’t mean nearly as much without the community that helped make it possible.

🍴 Veracruz Cooking Club: Homemade Chips 101
One of the most requested parts of our Chilaquiles episode was how we make the chips from scratch, so here’s a closer look.
Chef Reyna’s tip: after cutting your tortillas, let them rest overnight on a tray. This helps reduce moisture so they fry up crispier and absorb less oil.
It’s a simple step, but it makes a big difference.
Whether you’re making chilaquiles, dipping into salsa, or just craving a homemade snack, great chips start long before they hit the fryer.

What people say
Veracruz All Natural is a family-run business in Austin, Texas that offers a variety of delicious Mexican cuisine. Founded by sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez, the food truck is located on Webberville Road and serves up some of the best snacks, smoothies, and juices in town. One of their specialties is the traditional Mexican sweetbread called conchas, which are baked fresh every day and pair perfectly with a lechero coffee made with beans from Veracruz Fonda and Bar. The sisters take pride in their recipes, with Reyna perfecting her concha recipe over the years. Veracruz All Natural has also had the pleasure of serving tacos to Grammy Award-winning Brittany Howard and her Alabama Shakes band members during ACL Fest in 2015. With their dedication to quality ingredients and authentic flavors, it's no wonder why Veracruz All Natural has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.
