We’ve got something very special hitting the shelves tomorrow morning just as our PURA VIDA DAYTIME PARTY kicks off! 🌴☕️🍹
✨ Hacienda Sonora “Red Gold”
Natural & Honey Processed | 10 oz

🍒 Cherry • 🍫 Chocolate • 🌰 Hazelnut
This coffee is a 50/50 blend of the same bean processed two different ways — natural + honey. The result? A super clean, smooth and approachable cup that still brings BIG flavor.
Think cherry fruit leather up front, chocolate in the middle, and a hazelnut finish. We’ve brewed it on HPO, espresso, Chemex AND cold brew, and this thing absolutely crushed it across the board.
And here’s the wild part: only 20 bags made it to Texas. 👀
We’ll have them on the shelves Saturday morning, and every bag comes with a Pura Vida sticker while supplies last!

Around a decade ago, when Red Horn was really new and deep diving into our coffee roasting journey, we were in search of cascara for a fun b**r project. In that search, we connected with Diego Guardia from Hacienda Sonora to get a box shipped directly. The b**r project was fun but what was more exciting was we began a long distance friendship with Diego and began to learn more about their farm, its history and their family.
Soon thereafter, we had an incredible opportunity to make a couple of trips to meet him and his family and tour the farm that has been in their family for generations. We got to meet some of the very people that pick the coffee cherries, work the drying beds and process and bag up the very coffee coming out of our little roaster.
Many do not know the journey that coffee takes from when it is first planted to when it arrives in your cup. This very journey is often underappreciated and undervalued by many and one we at Red Horn spend a lot of time trying to create a deeper understanding for and connection connection with.
While we have not had the opportunity the past several years to work as much with Hacienda Sonora as we had in the past, we have really looked forward to reinvigorating this relationship and many future projects!
Hacienda Sonora not only takes pride and what they do but they value the people that work their farms. They have created a 100% sustainable farm, they provide housing and they pay above standard wages for their workers. This is a difficult thing to do in our industry across the entire supply chain. We hope to share this coffee as we have done in the past with others and will do much more in the future, and we hope many learn to appreciate all that goes into what is ground, what is roasted and what goes into each and every cup that we drink.
Pura Vida, for those that have been to Costa Rica, is not just something they say, but it is a way of life. It is a part of their culture and we hope you come out to party with us with this coffee launch to celebrate coffee in the way it deserves to be celebrated.
