Chago's Caribbean Cuisine was a Puerto Rican and Spanish restaurant that provided authentic menu items passed down through the families of Chef Chago and his wife, Solemar. Customers were delighted by the delicious Mofongos made from fried green plantains mashed together with broth, garlic, olive oil, and pork crackling using a mortar called a pilón. Other specialties included Chago's Pernil Asado, Fricase de Pollo, Cuban sandwich, Casseroles like pastelon de papas or de platanos maduros, Sancocho soup, and Arroz con Pollo. This restaurant had gained recognition for its Cuban sandwich winning the 2012 "Critics Cuban Sandwich Smackdown" by the Austin Chronicle’s Restaurant Poll Awards. Unfortunately, Chago's Caribbean Cuisine is permanently closed.
