Delighted to share this revival of the garden as featured on PBS:
An idle farm-to-table restaurant’s legacy micro farm finds new roots.
Eastside Cafe Austin was an American restaurant that served garden-fresh comfort food using herbs and vegetables from its own garden. Located in an East Austin bungalow, the restaurant was known for its seasonal, fresh, and often vegetarian-friendly dishes. It opened in 1988 as one of the first restaurants on Manor Road and was a pioneer in the urban farming movement. Along with their homemade dishes, they offered that Elaine’s next door served homemade pies, pulled pork sandwiches, gourmet coffee drinks and more. Unfortunately, Eastside Cafe Austin has been permanently closed.
