Oh Moto and Paul—
two fine dining chefs with wild hearts,
you didn’t just open a truck—
you opened a counterculture.
A cheap little truck that fed a city
and gave outsiders a shot
at something real.
This wasn’t just food.
It was a fresh start.
A new beginning.
An opportunity for those
who rarely get one.
It was a family—
with many faces,
many names,
and many shots of Jameson.
Now we close those doors—
so the next generation of
silly food and even sillier people
can walk through them.
So they can
work with nothing to create something.
We may be saying goodbye
to East Side King—
but we are not done.
We are a way of life,
a lesson learned,
an opportunity taken and run with.
Yo ho—
it’s a pirate life for us.
